Save Your Marriage from Ending up in a Divorce

Has your relationship reached the situation where you or your partner is thinking of divorce?

Divorce is not a solution to the problems that both of you are facing. A painful act hurts both you and your partner. A relationship can take days, months or even years to build up, but it takes only a few seconds to break up that relationship. Therefore, divorce should be the last thing in your mind while in a relationship. However, certain times things go out of your control and situations compel you to think of divorce. Listed below are some useful tips following which you can mend your relationship once again and not end up having a divorce.

The first thing that you must do is to stop accusing each other or yourselves for the mistakes or arguments. Impeaching only turns the focus from the problem and ends up in a temporary solution. Blaming each other satisfies the ego of you temporarily. Therefore, instead of impeaching each other, seek a solution to the problems that is causing an argument between both of you.

Responsibility is a major thing that many people tend to avoid. This is a very important part of a happy relationship. Even if it is the fault of your partner, you take responsibility to extinguish the existing faults in the relationship.

Lack of proper communication is the primary reason for many divorces. Therefore, communicate effectively with your partner. Not only express your views, but also listen calmly to your partner’s views. Listening can reduce much underlying faults in a relationship. Therefore, give your partner the perogative to express his or her notions.

Compromise is another major role that plays in a relationship. Make yourself resilient to situations. Certain compromises can lead to a happier relationship.

Even if you are not getting any results following the previously mentioned tips, then consult a marriage professional to seek help. Often it happens; an interference of a third party resolves the differences in the relationship. As a professional marriage counsellor I will Listen to the problems of both partners and give solutions to those problems

Finally, do not traduce your partner and feel the relationship to be an onerous one. Instead, take it lovingly and accept the fact that responsibilities, compromises are a part of life. Therefore, it is possible to make a relationship happy once again even if it is on the verge of divorce.

How Hypnotherapy Helps With Stress And Anxiety

How Hypnotherapy Helps With Stress And Anxiety

Stress can be defined as a state we experience when there is a mismatch between perceived demands and our perceived ability to cope. Stress can also be defined as an adaptive response by a body to change in the environment.

Stress response evolved to enable humans to deal with life-threatening dangers or stressors such as being confronted with a wild animal or perhaps a hostile human. Situations like this required action – the activation of stress response to wither stay and fight or to run away.

Today we hopefully won’t have to face the same dangers as our ancestors but the stress response to demanding situations we face is still with us and our mind and body still prepare for fight or flight when confronted with this equivalent of the wild animal. This is where the problem may begin as activation of the fight or flight response with no physical outlet, such as if we are stuck in a traffic jam and can’t fight it or flee it, or maybe an unfair confrontation in the workplace where once again the response for action may be triggered but we cant vent it by fighting or running away without consequences we would rather avoid. Perhaps both of these events and more are experienced on the same day, perhaps every day, and the stress builds within us until it can damage our health if a solution is not found

Stress isn’t always bad – the stress response was designed to help and protect us and some people even place themselves in stressful situations they know they can handle for excitement and ‘the rush’ as it is often called.

We all experience stress in different ways depending upon our personality type, conditioning and possible training also.

When we face a stressor but perceive we have the ability to deal with it successfully a feeling of success and achievement can be gained. Getting the balance right between good stress to motivate us and encourage us to grow, and our ability to cope with the stress is possibly the key to remaining healthy, positive and active in whatever arena of life we find ourselves.

Our ability to cope with stress can be affected by our diet and the intake of good substances that out body needs to remain strong and flexible and to repair itself when needed. Also we should avoid anything that could cause us to be more stressed or weaker such as drugs, alcohol, smoking etc.

Finally, stress can be external, some event or situation that is causing stress, or internal, attitudes or emotions that lead to stress (anxiety, guilt, low self esteem, fear, etc).

What is the Fight/Flight Response? Why do we still have it?

The ‘Fight or Flight Response’ is a physiological reaction and is the body’s response to a stressor.

Changes in hormones prepare a person to either stay and deal with a stressor or to take flight/run away. This immediate state of alarm is when the body prepares to take action, and in this state a person will be extremely alert to their surroundings but also very anxious and possibly unable to concentrate.

The body will slow down systems not vital in responding to the stressor, such as the digestive system, which is why a person in a fight or flight situation may have a dry mouth and a nervous/upset stomach. The body will make other preparations such as improved cooling for the body as more energy is used and this will result in perspiration.

The fight or flight response is a very old and very basic response and has been with us for a very long time. It was originally a response to danger that would prepare our ancestors to fight the wild beast or the enemy who might suddenly threaten or confront them, or to take flight and literally run away from the danger.

This response is triggered when we send a message of alarm to a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. This area of the brain will then send a signal to the glands to release adrenaline, cortisol and endorphin into the blood stream. Increased levels of adrenaline increase heart rate and blood flow which in turn brings extra oxygen and glucose to the muscles. Cortisol causes an increase in amino-acids and sugars in the blood. Amino-acids are crucial for the repair and recovery of damaged tissues which may occur under stress and the blood sugar adds to the availability of glucose (fuel) for the body.

The release of endorphin, which is a morphine like substance only more powerful, provides the body’s natural tranquilizing system. Pain is blocked and a feeling of euphoria may be experienced, both helping to get the body through the situation it may find itself in due to stress.

We still have this response, as it is still necessary to prepare and protect us in times of alarm, such as being involved in an emergency situation of any kind, or being confronted with any form of potentially life threatening danger.

Once the initial stages of this fight or flight response are over, a person will have a psychological reaction to the stressor which will be based upon many variables including, personality type, conditioning, age, physical and mental ability, and their knowledge relevant to the situation to be dealt with.

It is very often the resulting symptoms of this fight or flight response kicking in that we tend to call a panic attack. what actually happens is that we may be in a situation where we can’t fight or flight, such as a meeting or on a train, and so we become more and more anxious and may feel as though we will pass out, or be sick, or any one of a number of responses. What often happens then,is we find we have a desperate need to urinate, and that is another way the subconscious mind will sometimes attempt to gain our attention and force us to leave the arena in which we find ourselves at the time. It is normally the feeling of not being able to escape, and knowing that we might have this strong feeling to fight or flight that causes much of the anxiety and expectation of problems for most people who find they need help to overcome their problem.

Also, many people….no…that should be most people who suffer from panic attacks and anxiety will normally have the need for some Obsessive compulsive actions in their life…it can often be a type of coping, or controlling strategy.

Why hypnotherapy is totally different from any other form of therapy?

Hypnotherapy is different from any other form of therapy because of the way in which the therapy part happens while one is in hypnosis. Put another way, hypnotherapy is a very effective combination of hypnosis, a trance or altered state of mind and deep relaxation, and the chosen therapy, which might be for example; suggestion therapy, regression, ego states therapy, neuro-linguistic-programming or hypnoanalysis.

Hypnosis allows an individual to enter a state of deep relaxation which in itself is a very useful therapy for combating stress. It also allows one to become calm and focused, as all parts of the mind work together and concentrate on solving the problem at hand, and therefore making the very best use of the chosen therapy as it is applied.

Why it is so helpful in cases of stress, anxiety and panic attacks?

Hypnosis is a state in which the conscious critical faculty is temporarily suspended or distracted and in which all parts of the mind work in harmony for the good of the whole being.

When in hypnosis an individual can become very relaxed and at the same time very aware and ‘sharp’, mentally focused.

For the computer literate, I would liken hypnosis to the ‘safe mode’ on a computer, where if a part of the system is acting up or malfunctioning, placing the system in safe mode allows for investigation and repair to be carried out safely while minimising the risk to the normal operating systems. In some sports it would be like a ‘time-out’, where all parts of the team come together briefly to review the current state of play, to identify where poor choices may have affected the outcomes and to choose a new strategy to move forward with.

In the normal hurly burly of life we seldom have time to take a time out, or to go into safe mode to pull together our resources and to calmly take stock and plan our best way forward. Hypnosis then, is a safe, relaxing state in which we can let go the tensions in and around us for a short period, and in which, if we desire it, a skilled therapist can guide us through the stages of investigation, discovery, planning and repair we may need.

Hypnotherapy therefore provides relaxation (and clients of good therapists learn self-hypnosis so they can find this deep relaxation for themselves) and is therefore useful at even this basic level, as a kind of first aid. The good therapist will help the client to find any repressed emotions, triggers and false instincts from the past that are a kind of out-of-date, erroneous, or maybe just no longer wanted or needed programming, that loops around once triggered to cause us much anxiety and feelings of panic, but we often don’t know why. Following this, the wonderful power of hypnotic suggestion, and Neuro-Linguistic programming techniques will be used to provide new and efficient programming to support moves forward into a much more positive life with a better outlook on everything..

Counselling and its Benefits

Most people go through difficult and challenging times at some point. Life is not always easy or straightforward.

Counselling can be very effective in helping sort through life’s challenging moments.

Some people have experienced trauma in their life and may be living with negative and debilitating thoughts and emotions. Some people feel anxious or depressed, or feel disconnected from friends, family or career. Others sometimes describe a lack of purpose in life and a lack of enjoyment in everyday life.  Some people who approach therapy may have addiction problems, anger issues or may have suffered a recent loss or bereavement. There are many reasons people come to a therapist and there is no limit to what can be discussed in therapy.

Seeking the help of a qualified therapist and counsellor can assist you to explore thoughts and emotions and make sense of why you are thinking and feeling a certain way.

Very often we don’t have someone that we can completely share our innermost thoughts and emotions with. Talking with friends and family can help to a degree, but most of us do not speak frankly and honestly about our deepest feelings with those who are closest to us. Sometimes, talking with a friend or family member can be a barrier to openly discussing issues and problems. This barrier can make you feel more isolated.

Having someone to talk with and confide in, who is there specifically to listen and help you work through issues, is invaluable. I am skilled in dealing with and talking about difficult subject matters, Making it it less awkward to reveal deep-rooted thoughts and feelings.

By going through this process with Me, you will gain valuable insights into your thoughts and make sense of them. Behaviours can be identified and you will gain self-awareness and clarity that in turn gives you a greater understanding of why you are feeling, thinking and doing what you do. Coping With A Nervous Breakdown

Coping with a Nervous Breakdown

Deep relaxation can ease your stressed brain and give you back a sense of control and perspective

If you feel close to having a nervous breakdown right now you are probably feeling like you have hit rock bottom.

Many people who are close to a nervous breakdown feel a million miles from their real self.

Feelings of anger, negativity, exhaustion and anxiety are probably overwhelming you and your ability to lead a 'normal' life and have 'normal' relationships is no doubt proving tough.

The right approach can help quickly

Nervous breakdowns tend to happen due to a demanding lifestyle, stress, or as a result of dealing with trauma. Stress and anxiety can often lead to depression and feelings of being unable to cope.

You may feel at the moment that everything is a struggle and there is nothing positive in your life. However, treating a breakdown in the right way will allow you to come out the 'other side' of this an even better person.

Here's how I can help you…..

Relaxation is the key to recovery

Stopping for a while and taking time to relax when you feel things are getting too much will gradually allow your body and mind to start to feel refreshed and re-energised again. Regular relaxation will also help 'reset' your sleeping patterns which will help reduce your stress levels greatly.

A Hypnotherapy session will quickly make you feel calmer and happier, getting you back to the 'real you'. Being relaxed and knowing how to cope with stress and challenging situations will allow you to approach the future in a calmer and more confident way.

Getting back to the 'real' you

You can just imagine yourself now with the feeling of this renewed energy and confidence. With this, you will begin to enjoy those little things in life such as meeting up with a friend for a coffee, going shopping or spending time with your family; just like you used to.

When you feel more relaxed you will also be able to put up boundaries and set yourself limits so you don't have to deal with a breakdown again. As you start to feel calmer, things you currently find difficult to do will slowly become easier.

Just remember that right now you have just gone off track slightly and you just need to stop for a while to return back to the 'real you'. With this rest and revitalisation you will begin to see a brighter future.

After a session with me you will notice how quickly life regains its color.

Important: A nervous breakdown is a serious condition. Hypnotherapy is designed to supplement, not replace, treatment from a suitable medical practitioner.

Overcoming Anxiety

Need Help Coping With Anxiety At This Time Of Year ?

Most People Refuse to Acknowledge Their Anxieties

Hey, let's face it, we all like to put up a face around people we care about or respect. At the very least, we have some sort of public face that we try to maintain.

What is this public face? Well, we want people to think that we're strong. We want to give people the impression that we have our acts together. We don't want them to see our weaknesses.

We really are often embarrassed by a public display of shortcomings or other features that we think will make us look bad. This is why we put up with appearances.

We know, deep down inside that, most of the time, we can't trust appearances. People who seem to have the perfect families, the perfect careers, or the perfect lives are actually going through a tough time. But, since we maintain this public face, most people are simply left with the surface impression that everything is going well.

Here's the thing. You can get so caught up in the public appearance that you're putting up that you end up playing seriously damaging games with yourself. One of the worst things that you can do is to be in denial about your anxieties.

Now, let's get one thing clear. Everybody's got anxieties. We all have fears about the past. We have regrets, guilt and other negative emotions about things that have happened in the past.

We also have issues about the future. Sure, these things have not yet happened, but despite that fact, we can't help but worry about them.

We would like to gain some measure of control over our lives. And sadly, too many of us try to do this by simply trying to worry ourselves into some semblance of control.

Well, just as we can't control what happened in the past, we can't control the things that have yet to happen. And that's why, unfortunately, a lot of people struggle with anxiety. It can easily get out of hand.

While it's almost normal to assume that a certain level of worry is fine, it's very easy to overstep our bounds. It's really hard to find that thin line between "healthy worries" and obsessive anxieties that wear us down and pollute our relationships.

Given this background, it is no surprise that a lot of people refuse to acknowledge their anxieties. As far as the world is concerned, they're living perfect lives or something close to it. That's the public appearance they want to give.

And before you know it, they start believing their own press. They start believing the image that they portray to the rest of the world and that's why they are terribly surprised when they figure out that they have these anxieties that are eating them from within. Are you one of these people?

Well, the good news is that there is a solution to anxiety , I am, of course, talking about changing your belief system.

The best part to all of this is that you yourself trigger the changes. By simply working with how you currently process reality, you can get out from under the crushing weight of anxiety.

Stop Worrying About What Other People Think

stop worrying what people think.png with Kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

Can Comparing Yourself To Others Be Good For You?

The answer to this is a resounding “Yes” if you do this in the right way. What most people tend to do is compare themselves to others as some form of validation for themselves or because of envy or some other negative emotion.

The secret to comparing yourself to others for your benefit is to do it on the premise that you want to improve yourself. You want to achieve a specific goal and another person has already achieved this goal so you can learn from them and then use similar strategies in your own life.

You must have the right Intent

Having the right intent for comparing yourself to another person is critical. What we do not recommend you do is compare yourself to someone else that you know is not as good as you in a specific area so that you can give your ego a boost. Avoid this kind of “self validation”.

You may get a temporary ego boost from a self validation comparison but this can backfire on you very badly. If you don’t know the person that you are comparing to very well then you have no idea what they are capable of. If you challenge them and they end up being better than you at your specialty then this can destroy your self esteem.

Think about why you want to make the comparison. Let’s say that you want to be a successful business manager and there is a manager in your office who always seems to make the right decisions and has the level of confidence that you want to achieve.

You want to find out how they got to their position and how they maintain their confidence. This is specific intent and you are in the right frame of mind to make the comparison. You are not jealous that this person is a manager and you are not. It is all about learning from the person so that you can improve your life.

Consume other relevant information

The person in your office is not the only good business manager out there. Many have written books and some have their own blog. These days it is easier than it ever has been before to get the information that you need.

Once you have decided that you want to be a top notch business manager consume everything that you can about the subject and keep looking for new material. Modeling the business manager you know is a good step forward but you can always do more.

If you are not a fan of reading then go to YouTube and find relevant videos there. You will be sure to find what you are looking for. Also look for forums on your subject and join them and participate. Ask questions and most people will be happy to help.

Be careful of your Self View

You have a view about yourself that you formed over many years. This self view tells you that you things like you are smart, good looking, talented and so on. We all need this self view because it defines how you see the world around you and helps you to figure everything out.

The problem is that if you believe something in your self view and something challenges this then there is conflict. So if you believe that you know a lot about business and someone tells you that you need to learn more about business then this is difficult to take. Relax your self view and take on board any constructive criticisms.

Re-Program Your Mind For Success

success.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

Belief Is Your Key to Success

If you're reading this, you're looking for a way out of the mediocrity or flat out failure you are experiencing in your life. It's okay to admit it. There's no shame in trying to find a solution. What is shameful is to hide the problem and pretend that everything is okay?

Now we're on the same page, I need you to pay attention to the chair you are sitting on as you read this article. It seems sturdy. Obviously, it's able to hold your weight. It's doing its job just fine but did you know right before you sat down to read this article, you had to make a quick snap decision.

In fact, it went by so quickly that you probably were not even aware of it. Still, you need to make that decision. What am I talking about? I'm talking about your assessment of the fitness of the chair. That's a big deal because if you sat on the chair without thinking and without even considering whether it's sturdy enough to hold your weight or whether it's positioned right, you probably will fall flat on your butt.

You might even hurt yourself. Belief is the reason you quickly went through the emotion of sitting before you can read this article. You believe the chair would hold your weight. You believe it's in good enough shape to take care of you and prevent harm from happening to you.

I'll walk you through this exercise to bring home the point that belief is crucial to your daily existence. You do it all the time. You operate out of belief. You live in belief. Belief is the glue that ties your life together. It informs your decisions that make your life possible.

If you can believe this chair can hold you up why do you continue to believe in things that hold you down? If you're struggling in any shape or form it's because you believed in the wrong things. I know it hurts; I know it stinks.

Nobody wants to hear this because it leads to the ultimate conclusion we all need to wake up. We are the authors of our life. We make that call. We make that decision and nothing stings more than coming face to face with the reality you made bad choices.

If you're struggling in your relationships, at your job, with your health, how much you weigh, and what you look like, it's because you made the wrong call. Nobody likes to be wrong. But the good news is that you don't have to rely on your feelings.

You don't have to remain trapped or at least you feel trapped. Instead, you can tap into the power of belief so you can make better decisions. You understand that the world doesn't care about your feelings. It really doesn't give a hoot about what your emotional state is.

Do you know what it pays attention to? It is your actions. Get your belief house in order and you will make better decisions. This means taking better action which puts your life in a better position.

Belief impacts your expectations and assumptions. Start there. What do you assume to be true about you? It is your life, your place in the world, and your capabilities. What do you expect out of life? This is a belief too.

The good news here is that just as you can accept certain beliefs. You can drop them like a hot potato. Seriously, belief affects how you roll with the blows; it affects your coping mechanisms. Understand how belief works and understand that belief is a choice. Choose better beliefs and you get better results. It's that simple.

Overcome Low Self Esteem in Relationships

low self esteem.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

Improve Low Self Esteem in Relationships

Overcome poor self esteem in relationships with a gentle, permissive Hypnotherapy session.

A healthy and happy relationship should be good for your self-esteem.

But it may be that your self-esteem wasn't great to begin with and although your partner makes efforts to compliment you and build you up somehow you just don't believe them!

Maybe you really love your partner but feel they are just too good for you and that you are 'lucky to have them'?

Perhaps you feel it's just a matter of time before they reject you in favour of some one 'better!'

And perhaps your low self esteem in your relationship is even spoiling the relationship itself . Low self-esteem can manifest as you looking for signs that your partner has lost interest in you or prefers someone else or is only seeing you because they pity you.

The effect of low self esteem and defensiveness in relationships

Sometimes low self esteem in relationships makes you defensive and feeling like you are being criticised when you are not! Low self-esteem can present as over-sensitivity.

Some people with very low self-esteem describe themselves as 'unlovable' and even say things like: 'He/She is only with me for sex / money / out of pity / duty / until they meet someone better!'

It could be the case that you were badly treated and psychologically abused by a previous partner who put you down, never said anything nice about you and made you feel worthless.

It's easy to suffer lowered self-esteem when we've been in a relationship like this.

But if we take these 'old feelings' into a new relationship then they can really get in the way of a satisfying relationship.

This is like a bird that has been caged for many years finally having the cage door released but, out of habit, not yet realising that it can now actually fly free!

Imagine what it will be like to truly value yourself and be able to feel the reality of your partners love and respect for you because you feel that it is right and reasonable for them to feel positively towards you.

How hypnotherapy can help improve low self esteem in relationships

Old patterns of feelings and thoughts are hard to change because they have been engrained into your unconscious mind. They have become the way you interpret the world.

To deal with patterns at this unconscious level, we need a tool that works at this level. Which is where hypnotherapy comes in.

Hypnosis is a gentle, comfortable way to update old, unhelpful associations so you can see things afresh - you can respond to your partner naturally without that old baggage dragging you back.

Book a hypnotherapy session now with me Kimberley and start to feel good about yourself and your relationship.

How to Break Down Your Stress to Get Rid of It

How to Break Down Your Stress to Get Rid of It

When most of us are stressed, it is for a reason. We are stressed for instance because of our work, because of a deadline or because of debt. Knowing what is causing the stress helps us to at least contextualise it and gives us hope that someday we might escape its clutches, but for many of us that is not enough.

But if you break that stress down further and if you really get to know it, then you might just find that it starts to come apart and that it becomes much more manageable.

Make Your Stress Smaller

The trick is to break down your stress into specific things – into manageable chunks that you can deal with and then to deal with the constituent parts.

So let’s take a look at one of the biggest culprits: work. If your main stressor is work, then chances are that you can break this down further to identify precisely what it is about work that stresses you out. Here are some examples of aspects of our jobs that make us stressed:

💜        Looming deadlines

💕       Angry bosses

💜        Unpleasant colleagues

💕       Uncomfortable workspaces

💜        Busy, long commutes

💕       Things you would rather be doing

💜        Wearing work clothes

💕        Making calls

💜       Speaking in public

💕       Having too much to do

All these things can make us feel stressed about our jobs and most likely there are a number of these things playing on your mind.

But now you’ve broken it all down and you know the specifics, you should find it becomes much easier to start dealing with the problems individually.

So for instance: if you have a colleague you don’t like, you could ask to be moved to another part of the office. Likewise, if your workspace is uncomfortable, you could speak to HR about getting a new chair, or you could put a plant on your desk. Don’t like the long commute? How about looking into a lift share, or finding an alternative route. Workload too big? Then again, speak to someone and ask to have it shared!

Likewise, you might find that other ‘big’ stresses in your life can be made easier when you break them down into their smaller constituents. Stressed about debt? Then perhaps one aspect of that is not being able to afford things – in which case writing a budget could help. Another aspect could be worrying about your credit score, in which case you could talk to your bank manager or a debt advisor.

Dealing With Anticipatory Anxiety - Counselling Malta

Overcome Anticipatory Anxiety

Calm down your worries about future events with Hypnotherapy And Counselling

Is most of your worrying just anticipatory anxiety about the future, rather than concerns about what's actually going on now?

Do you get eaten up with dread about upcoming events and how they will turn out?

Your ability to imagine a goal in life, and to work out detailed plans to deal with obstacles, is a truly valuable resource. Deciding what you'll do if things go wrong is key to effective planning. It would be downright silly to assume everything will always go smoothly. Flights will be delayed, rain will fall on garden parties, people will forget what they were going to say, tomato sauce will get spilled over you...It happens to everyone.

Too much thinking leads to anticipatory anxiety

The trouble is, when you spend too much time thinking too closely about everything that could go wrong, the famous mind-body connection goes into overdrive. Your worrying thoughts can trigger the actual physical emotions that would accompany those unfortunate events. Your heart rate rises, adrenaline floods into your bloodstream, and your body gets ready to face what it believes is a real and present danger.

When really it's all in your imagination.

Now obviously, it doesn't make sense to say you should just stop preparing for future events, and planning for negative eventualities, altogether. That would be likely to bring you some perfectly real (as opposed to imaginary!) difficulties.

What's needed is a way to think about eventualities (good or bad) calmly. A way to calm down any emotional response that gets triggered, so you can stay detached, make sensible plans, and then get on with your life.

And hypnotherapy is a brilliant way for you to do just that.

Hypnotherapy can help you calm down unnecessary fears

and will train your unconscious mind to instinctively calm down anxious thoughts about the future.

As you relax and listen , you'll notice that you

💖find yourself becoming much more relaxed about life in general

💖learn how to take command of your emotional responses

💖become more and more skilled at calming and quieting troubling thoughts

💖are no longer at the mercy of unpleasant emotions

💖can think much more clearly and effectively about helpful ways to prepare for upcoming events

💖enjoy life so much more.

💖face the future with calm.
